Angers is a city located in western France, situated approximately 300 km (190 mi) southwest of Paris. It serves as the prefecture of the Maine-et-Loire department.
Historically, the city functioned as the capital of the province of Anjou until the French Revolution. The residents of both Angers and the surrounding province are known as Angevins, though they are occasionally referred to as Angeriens.
