Molsheim is a commune and subprefecture located in the Bas-Rhin department within the Grand Est region of north-eastern France. As of 2023, the city has a total population of 9,318 inhabitants. It serves as the center of an urban unit with approximately 27,000 residents and is part of the metropolitan area of Strasbourg.
The city experienced significant growth between the French censuses of 1968 and 1999, during which the population increased from 5,739 to 9,335. This period of rapid expansion has since reached a noticeable halt.
