Metz is a city located in northeast France at the confluence of the Moselle and Seille rivers. It serves as the prefecture of the Moselle department and functions as the seat of the parliament for the Grand Est region.

Situated near the tripoint where the borders of France, Germany, and Luxembourg meet, the city is a central component of the European Greater Region and the SaarLorLux euroregion.
