Cherbourg

Cherbourg is a former commune and subprefecture situated at the northern end of the Cotentin Peninsula in the northwestern French department of Manche. It serves as a significant coastal location within the region.

The administrative status of the area has undergone several changes in recent years. On February 28, 2000, Cherbourg was merged into the commune of Cherbourg-Octeville. Subsequently, on January 1, 2016, it was incorporated into the new commune of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin.
