Alençon is a commune located in the Normandy region of northwestern France. It serves as the administrative capital of the Orne department and is situated between the cities of Paris and Rennes.
Geographically, the city lies just over 50 kilometres (31 mi) north of Le Mans. Alençon belongs to the intercommunality of Alençon.
