Sandavágur is a town located on the south coast of the Faroese island of Vágar in the Faroe Islands. The name Sandavágur translates to "sandy bay," which refers to a sandy beach that was significantly larger in the past than it is today.
The town offers views of all the southern islands of the Faroe Islands from certain vantage points. Historically, Sandavágur functioned as an independent municipality until January 1, 2009, when it merged with the neighboring village of Miðvágur to form the current Vágar municipality.
