Tórshavn, locally known as Havn, is the capital and largest city of the Faroe Islands. It is situated in the southern part of the east coast on the island of Streymoy.
The city is geographically positioned between two mountains: Húsareyn to the northwest, which stands 347 meters high, and Kirkjubøreyn to the southwest, which reaches 350 meters. These landmarks are separated by the Sandá River. As of 2024, the city has a population of 14,223, while the greater urban area—which includes the suburbs of Hoyvík and Argir—has a total population of 22,444.
