Fananu is a municipality located in the state of Chuuk within the Federated States of Micronesia. It is situated in the Northwest Outer Islands region of Chuuk State, specifically forming part of the Hall Islands group.
The municipality is geographically defined by its composition of specific island groups: it includes the easternmost islands of Nomwin Atoll and the westernmost islands of Murilo Atoll. Fananu sits alongside the municipalities of Nomwin, Ruo, and Murilo to comprise the Hall Islands.
