Nukuoro

Micronesia

Nukuoro is an atoll located in the Federated States of Micronesia. It serves as a municipality within the state of Pohnpei and is identified as the second southernmost atoll in the country, following Kapingamarangi. Both islands are classified as Polynesian outliers.

The island's primary occupations include fishing, agriculture, and animal husbandry. Additionally, a recent project to farm black pearl oysters has successfully provided an additional source of income for the local population. As of 2007, Nukuoro had a recorded population of 372 residents, although several hundred people from the island also reside on Pohnpei.
