Finland

Espoo is a city located in the southern Uusimaa region of Finland. Situated to the west of the capital city, Helsinki, it lies on the northern shore of the Gulf of Finland. The municipality covers an area of 528 km2 and borders the cities and municipalities of Helsinki, Vantaa, Kirkkonummi, Vihti, and Nurmijärvi.

As the second most populous municipality in Finland, Espoo has a population of approximately 326,000 inhabitants. It is an integral part of the Helsinki Metropolitan Area, which houses roughly 1.6 million people. The city also includes the enclave of Kauniainen within its boundaries.

Espoo is a bilingual municipality where Finnish and Swedish are the official languages. The demographic makeup reflects this diversity, with approximately 68% of the population speaking Finnish, 6% speaking Swedish, and 26% speaking other languages, a figure that exceeds the national average.
