Butajira is a town and separate woreda located in the East Gurage Zone of the Central Ethiopia Regional State. Situated at an elevation of 2,131 meters above sea level, it lies at the base of the Zebidar massif.
The town is surrounded by Meskan woreda and was formerly part of the Meskanena Mareko woreda.
