Korem is a town and separate woreda situated in the Tigray Region of Ethiopia. It is located on the eastern edge of the Ethiopian Highlands within the Southern Zone, at an elevation of 2539 meters above sea level. The town sits along Ethiopian Highway 2 and is surrounded by Wefla woreda.
Geographically, Korem is positioned in the endorheic basin of the Afar Triangle, meaning that nearby streams do not reach the ocean. Lake Ashenge is located approximately six kilometers to the north of the town.
