Adwa is a town and separate woreda located in the Central Zone of the Tigray Region in Ethiopia. Situated at an elevation of 1907 meters, it is positioned at the geographic coordinates of 14°10′N 38°54′E and is surrounded by Adwa woreda.
The town is primarily recognized as the community closest to the site of the 1896 Battle of Adwa. During this historical conflict, Ethiopian soldiers defeated Italian troops, marking one of the few instances where an African nation directly thwarted European colonialism.
