Jimma is the largest city in the southwestern Oromia Region of Ethiopia. Located at coordinates 7°40′N 36°50′E, it serves as an administrative center within the region.
The city is designated as a special zone of the Oromia Region and is surrounded by the Jimma Zone. Prior to the 2007 census, Jimma underwent an administrative reorganization to establish its status as a special Zone.
