Gimbi is a town located in the western Oromia Region of Ethiopia. Situated within the West Welega Zone at a latitude and longitude of 9°10′N 35°50′E, it serves as the administrative center of the Gimbi woreda. The town sits at an elevation ranging between 1,845 and 1,930 meters above sea level.
The region surrounding Gimbi is characterized by significant annual rainfall, with some areas receiving over 2,800 millimeters per year. It is considered one of the wettest parts of Ethiopia, experiencing only two to four dry months annually. The local climate is influenced by the terrain, where mountains trap more moisture to produce higher rainfall compared to the surrounding lowlands.
