Gelemso

Ethiopia

Gelemso is a town located in the West Hararghe Zone of the Oromia Region in eastern Ethiopia. It is situated at coordinates 8°49′N 40°31′E, approximately 301 km or 413 km from the national capital depending on the route taken. The town lies on the western periphery of a mountain chain known locally as Fugug and referred to by geographers as the Ahmar Mountains.

In 2013 EC, Gelemso became an independent woreda within the West Hararghe Zone. Locally, it is often referred to as the city of love, known as Biyyaa Jaalala. The area is also noted for being the origin of a variety of Jimaa called Gelemso.
