Kombolcha is a town and district located in north-central Ethiopia. It is situated within the Debub Wollo Zone of the Amhara Region, at coordinates 11°5′N 39°44′E. The area sits at an elevation ranging between 1842 and 1915 meters above sea level.
The town is frequently described in guide books as the twin town of Dessie, which is located approximately 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) to the northwest.
