Gondar, also spelled Gonder, is a city and woreda located in Ethiopia. It is situated within the North Gondar Zone of the Amhara Region, positioned north of Lake Tana on the Lesser Angereb River and southwest of the Simien Mountains.
As of 2021, the city has an estimated population of 443,156. It serves as a significant geographical point in the northern highlands of the country.
