Dessie is a town located in north-central Ethiopia within the South Wollo Zone of the Amhara Region. Situated at a latitude and longitude of 11°8′N 39°38′E, the city sits at an elevation ranging between 2,470 and 2,550 metres above sea level.
The town is positioned approximately 400 km north of Ethiopia's capital, Addis Ababa. It has a population exceeding 200,000 people distributed across more than 30 wards.
