Mile

Ethiopia

Mile is a city located in Ethiopia.

While the name "Mile" refers to a specific geographic location in Ethiopia, it is also the name of a British imperial and United States customary unit of length. This unit, often referred to as the international mile or statute mile, is based on 5,280 English feet or 1,760 yards.

The statute mile was standardized between the United States and the Commonwealth of Nations in 1959. Following the formal redefinition of the yard in relation to SI units as 0.9144 metres, the mile was established as exactly 1,609.344 metres. In common usage, five miles is approximately equal to eight kilometres.
