Paterna is a city and municipality located in the province of Valencia within the Valencian Community of Spain. It is situated on the left bank of the Turia River, positioned approximately 5 kilometres northwest of the inland suburbs of Valencia.
The city lies northeast of the comarca of L'Horta de Valencia. As of 2014, Paterna had a population of 67,156 inhabitants, making it the eleventh largest city by population in the Valencian Community.
