Barakaldo is a municipality situated in the Biscay province of the Basque Country region in Spain. It is located on the Left Bank of the Estuary of Bilbao and serves as an integral part of Greater Bilbao. As of the 2019 census, the city had a population of 100,881 residents.
The city is characterized by its industrial river-port heritage. In recent years, Barakaldo has undergone significant redevelopment, where new commercial and residential areas have been established to replace former active industrial zones.
