Badalona is a city and municipality located in the Catalonia region of Spain. Situated within the Barcelona metropolitan area, it lies on the left bank of the Besòs River along the Mediterranean Sea, positioned to the northeast of Barcelona.
The municipality officially became a city in 1897. It currently has a population of 226,219, making it the fourth-largest city in Catalonia and the 22nd-largest city in Spain.
