Valladolid, also popularly known as Pucela, is a city located in the Castile and León region of Spain. It serves as the primary seat of government and the de facto capital of the autonomous community of Castile and León, while also functioning as the capital of the province of Valladolid.
The city is situated roughly in the center of the northern half of the Iberian Peninsula's Meseta Central at the confluence of the Pisuerga and Esgueva rivers. It is located approximately 15 km (9.3 mi) before these rivers join the Duero and is surrounded by winegrowing areas.
As of 2024, Valladolid has a population of 299,816, making it the most populated municipality in the Castile and León region.
