Guadalajara is the capital and most populous city of the western Mexican state of Jalisco. It serves as the most densely populated municipality in the state and functions as a primary center for business, arts, culture, technology, tourism, and the economic hub of the Bajío region.

The Guadalajara metropolitan area is the third-largest in the country and the twenty-second largest in the Americas, with a total population of 5,268,642. The city maintains the second-highest population density in Mexico, exceeding 10,361 people per km2.
The city is home to several significant landmarks and cultural sites. Notable locations include the Guadalajara Cathedral, Degollado Theatre, Templo Expiatorio, and the San Juan de Dios Market, which is the largest indoor market in Latin America. It also houses the Hospicio Cabañas, a designated UNESCO World Heritage site.
