Huesca is a city located in north-eastern Spain within the autonomous community of Aragon. It serves as the capital of both the Spanish province of Huesca and the comarca of Hoya de Huesca. Historically, the city held significance as the capital of the Kingdom of Aragon between 1096 and 1118.
The city is recognized as one of the smallest provincial capitals in Spain. As of 2009, it had a population of 52,059, which accounted for nearly a quarter of the total population of its province.
