Granada is the capital city of the province of Granada, located within the autonomous community of Andalusia in southern Spain. Situated at an average elevation of 738 meters (2,421 feet) above sea level, the city lies at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains and at the confluence of four rivers: the Darro, Genil, Monachil, and Beiro.
The city is part of the Vega de Granada comarca and is positioned approximately 50 kilometers from the Mediterranean coast, known as the Costa Tropical. As of 2024, Granada has a population of 233,532, making it the 20th-largest city in Spain. It is also recognized as an important region for wine production.
