El Puerto de Santa María is a municipality located in the province of Cádiz within the Andalusia region of Spain. Situated on the banks of the Guadalete River, the city is also known locally as El Puerto and was historically referred to in English as Port Saint Mary.
As of 2016, the municipality had a population of approximately 88,184 residents. Of this total, about 50,000 people live within the urban center, while the remaining population resides in the surrounding areas.
