Chiclana de la Frontera is a town and municipality located in southwest Spain within the province of Cádiz, in the Andalusia region. Situated near the Gulf of Cádiz, it lies approximately 20 kilometres southeast of the city of Cádiz. The municipality borders San Fernando and Puerto Real to the north and Conil de la Frontera to the south, covering a total surface area of 203 square kilometres.
The town is part of the Bay of Cádiz association of municipalities, which constitutes the third largest metropolitan area in Andalusia. Its economy is primarily driven by tourism and modern industry, with a specific focus on salt processing. The area is well-known for its coastal attractions, including the 6-kilometre-long Playa de la Barrosa and the resort of Novo Sancti Petri, which features numerous golf courses and hotels.
Chiclana de la Frontera holds the distinction of having the largest number of hotel beds in both the Costa de la Luz and the Province of Cádiz. The municipality maintains a population density of 401 inhabitants per square kilometre, with an average elevation of 11 metres above sea level.
