Almería is a city and municipality located in the Andalusia region of southeastern Iberia, Spain. It serves as the capital of the province of Almería and currently has a population of 201,946.

The city is situated along the coastline of the Gulf of Almería, which is a large inlet of the Mediterranean Sea. Geographically, the municipality extends primarily between the eastern fringes of the Sierra de Gádor and the Andarax riverbed.
