Murcia is a city situated in south-eastern Spain, serving as the capital and most populous city of the autonomous community of the Region of Murcia. Located on the Segura River in the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula, it ranks as the seventh-largest city in Spain, with a population of 471,982 as of 2024.

The metropolitan area of Murcia covers an urban area of 1,230.9 km2 and had a total population of 672,773 in 2020. The city is characterized by a climate featuring hot summers, mild winters, and relatively low levels of precipitation.
