Logroño is the capital city of the autonomous community of La Rioja in northern Spain. It is situated primarily on the right (south) bank of the Ebro River.
Historically, Logroño served as a significant place of passage for travelers, most notably along the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route. During the Middle Ages, the city's borders were subject to disputes between the Iberian kingdoms of Castile, Navarre, and Aragon.
