Gher is a city located in Eritrea.
While the term "ger" (or yurt) refers to a portable, round tent traditionally used as a dwelling by nomadic groups in the steppes and mountains of Inner Asia, it is distinct from the geographical location of Gher. A ger consists of a flexible latticework of wood or bamboo for walls and a roof structure made of ribs, often covered with skins or felt.
These structures are designed to be portable, taking between 30 minutes and 3 hours to assemble or dismantle. They have served as the primary housing for nomadic farming in Central Asia, particularly Mongolia, for thousands of years.
