Luxor

Luxor is a city located in Upper Egypt and serves as the capital of the Luxor Governorate. Covering an area of 43.0 km2 (16.6 sq mi), the city had a population of 284,952 in 2023.

Historically known as Thebes, Luxor was one of the capitals of Ancient Egypt and is recognized as one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. It is commonly referred to by the nicknames the City of a Hundred Gates or the City of the Sun.
