Abu Kabir is a location situated in what is now southern Tel Aviv, Israel. It originated as a satellite village of Jaffa established by Egypt following Ibrahim Pasha's 1832 defeat of Turkish forces during the Ottoman era in Palestine.
The area was largely abandoned and subsequently destroyed during the 1948 Palestine war. Following the establishment of Israel in 1948, the site became part of south Tel Aviv. While it is officially part of the adjacent Jewish neighborhood of Giv'at Herzl, the name Abu Kabir has continued to be used for the area.
