Samalut is a city located in Egypt, serving as the capital of the eponymous markaz (county) within the Upper Egyptian governorate of Minya. It is situated on the west bank of the Nile River, approximately 225 km south of Cairo.
The administrative area of Samalut comprises nine main villages along with 54 subsidiary villages and hamlets. The city serves as a central hub for this rural region in the Minya governorate.
