Ismailia is a city located in north-eastern Egypt. It serves as the capital of the Ismailia Governorate and is situated on the west bank of the Suez Canal. The city is positioned approximately halfway between Port Said to the north and Suez to the south.
The geography of the area is notable for the widening of the Suez Canal at this location, which incorporates Lake Timsah. This lake is one of the Bitter Lakes linked by the canal system. As of 2024, the city had an estimated population of 380,000 residents.
