Abu Qir, also historically spelled Abukir or Aboukir, is a town situated on the Mediterranean coast of Egypt. It is located on the Abu Qir Peninsula, with Abu Qir Bay positioned to its east.
The town is situated approximately 23 kilometers (14 mi) northeast of Alexandria by rail. It is notable for its proximity to the ruins of ancient Canopus.
