Rosetta, also known as Rashid, is a port city located in the Nile Delta region of Egypt. It is situated in the Beheira governorate, approximately 65 kilometers (40 miles) east of Alexandria.
The city is historically significant due to its proximity to Fort Julien, where the Rosetta Stone was discovered in 1799. This artifact played a crucial role in the decipherment of ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs.
