Damanhur

Damanhur is a city located in Lower Egypt, serving as the capital of the Beheira Governorate. It is situated in the middle of the western Nile Delta, approximately 160 km (99 mi) northwest of Cairo and 70 km (43 mi) east-southeast of Alexandria.

The city has a long history that dates back to the Old Kingdom of Egypt. In its modern form, Damanhur has absorbed several ancient villages, including Shubra al-Jadida, Tāmus, Askanida, and Chortaso.
