Ras Gharib is a city located in Egypt, serving as the northernmost markaz (municipality) within the Red Sea Governorate. It is situated on the African side of the Gulf of Suez and covers a total area of 10,464.46 km². According to the 2006 Egyptian national census, the city had a population of 32,369 residents.
The region is historically significant as one of Egypt's primary centers for petroleum production. It served as the site for the main operations of the Anglo-Egyptian Oilfields Ltd and subsequently the Egyptian national petroleum company. Additionally, Ras Gharib previously functioned as the capital of the Red Sea Governorate.
