El Gouna is an Egyptian city situated on the coast of the Red Sea within the Red Sea Governorate. Located approximately 20 kilometres north of Hurghada, it serves as a prominent destination within the Red Sea Riviera region.
The city was established in 1990 and is owned and developed by Orascom Development, a company led by Samih Sawiris. El Gouna is notably recognized as a host city for the annual El Gouna Film Festival.
