Zapote is a city located in Ecuador. However, it is also identified as the fifth district of the San José canton within the San José province of Costa Rica.
In its capacity as an administrative unit surrounding downtown San José, Costa Rica, the district is primarily residential. Notable landmarks within this area include several government buildings, most significantly the Presidential House, which serves as the seat of the government.
