Ventanas is a city located in the Los Ríos Province of Ecuador. It serves as the head of the Ventanas Canton and ranks as the fourth most populated city within its province. Situated at an altitude of 24 meters above sea level, the city lies on an extensive plain in the center of the country's coastal region, where it is crossed by the Zapotal River.
The city features a rainy tropical climate with an average temperature of 26 °C. It is notably recognized as "The Corn Capital of Ecuador" due to its significant production of corn. As of the 2022 census, Ventanas had a population of 41,531, making it the thirty-eighth most populous city in the country.
Ventanas is part of the metropolitan area of Babahoyo, with which it shares strong economic, social, and commercial ties. It functions as a "dormitory city" for thousands of workers who commute daily to Babahoyo by land. Together, these connected areas form a conglomerate home to more than 250,000 inhabitants.
