Nueva Loja, also known as Lago Agrio, is the capital city of the Sucumbíos province in Ecuador. It serves as a primary urban center within the region and has an official population of 55,627 according to the 2022 census.

The city was established during the 1960s specifically to serve as a base camp for Texaco. This historical origin reflects its development as a hub for industrial activity in the area.
