Babahoyo is a city located in Ecuador that serves as the capital of the Los Ríos province. It was officially founded on May 27, 1948, by legislative decree. The city has an estimated population of approximately 98,000 residents.
The geography of Babahoyo is defined by its proximity to several waterways. It is bordered by the San Pablo and Caracol rivers, which converge to form the Babahoyo River. This river subsequently meets the Daule River to create the Guayas River, which flows into the Pacific Ocean at the Gulf of Guayaquil.
