Posorja is a small village located in Ecuador, situated approximately 120 km from the city of Guayaquil at the delta of the Guayas River. The region is characterized by a very dry climate zone.
Historically, fishing was the primary occupation for the residents of Posorja. However, this industry has been significantly impacted by increasing sea pollution and the introduction of high-tech fishing methods, which have drastically lowered local incomes. While three fish processing factories provide part-time work to some residents, approximately 60% of the area's 15,000 inhabitants do not have regular employment.
