Saquisilí is a town located in the Cotopaxi Province of Ecuador. It serves as the seat of the Saquisilí Canton and is situated approximately 25 minutes from Latacunga and 2.5 hours from the capital city, Quito.
The town is positioned off the Pan-American Highway and is primarily known for its local markets held in eight plazas every Thursday. Unlike the market in Otavalo, this venue serves highland locals who gather to trade livestock, produce, electronics, herbal remedies, and cookware. The animal market specifically operates between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m.
