Touggourt is a city and commune located in Algeria. It serves as the capital of the Touggourt District within the Touggourt Province. Historically, the area functioned as a former sultanate.
The city is situated next to an oasis in the Sahara Desert. According to the 2008 census, the commune had a population of 39,409 people, reflecting an annual growth rate of 1.8% since 1998. The broader urban area encompasses the communes of Nezla, Tebesbest, and Zaouia El Abidia, reaching a total population of 146,108.
