Tamanghasset, also known as Tamenghest, is an oasis city located in the Ahaggar Mountains of southern Algeria. It serves as the capital of the Tamanrasset Province and functions as the primary city for the Algerian Tuareg people.

Situated at an altitude of 1,320 metres (4,330 ft), the city has experienced steady population growth over recent decades. According to the 2008 census, the population was 92,635, with subsequent estimates projecting a population of approximately 140,955 by 2025.
